Our Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
At P169M, we will promote a highly engaging and nurturing environment that will lend itself to personal and academic growth throughout the school community. We believe that through ongoing collaboration between the student body, staff, families and the broader school community, students will be able to engage in curriculum and projects that foster the social emotional growth and academic rigor necessary to become compassionate and successful members of our society.
Mission Statement
Members of our school staff are perpetual learners, taking the opportunity for continuous weekly professional development and collaboration. Our teachers are trained in understanding and writing IEPs, and use differentiated instruction to help meet individual student needs. This, partnered with on-going assessments, enables our staff to work with a diverse population of student learners. We also partner with community organizations that help to enhance our students' academic and emotional growth.
Our school utilizes a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for both academic and behavioral interventions, through various Response to Intervention (RTI) programs and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). For students in need of additional interventions, we offer secondary and tertiary levels of support through our Pupil Personnel Team. We also host an out-patient clinic in our building, for more intensive mental health, behavioral and family support.
Our students will take ownership in their learning community through participation in the P169
Student Council. They will also participate in academic celebrations, which will help support classroom instruction and showcase student work. Families are encouraged to join in the school community through participation in the School Leadership Team, academic end of unit celebrations and parent workshops focusing on skills development for English Language Arts, Social Emotional Learning and Technology. This partnership will help foster strong relationships between home and school. Participation from all members of our school community is an integral part of creating a positive, sustainable school culture.
